Mandela Capture Site Visit

Our grade 9 learners went on a field trip to the Mandela Museum on the 28th July 2023.

A guided tour was provided, and the learners were able to ask lots of questions, explore and learn in the state-of-the-art museum. They did the long walk to freedom to view the impressive sculpture created by Marco Cianfanelli, an artwork made from 50 steel charcoal columns that create Mandela's head when viewed from a certain angle.

"The front of the sculpture is a portrait of Mandela, it has vertical bars which represent his imprisonment." said Cianfanelli.

The tour is linked to the Caps curriculum and provides learners with an out of the classroom learning experience.

Learning is a holistic experience and a process that we want our learners to be part of.
